SDMyers to present at the CARILEC Engineering & Procurement Conference & Exhibition

June 23, 2019 | Newport, Curacao

From June 23-27, 2019, in Curacao, SDMyers will be attending the 2019 Engineering and Procurement Conference and Exhibition co-sponsored by The Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC) and AQUALECTRA. This year’s theme is “Partnering for Sustainable Energy Solutions, Innovation and Resilience." The conference provides a technical forum for reporting and learning about the latest in research and development, innovations and best practices in electricity and energy engineering.

It provides a common platform to foster participation and exchange among engineers in the electricity and energy industries and will facilitate a better understanding about the global technological developments and scientific advancements by examining the pace of science, technology and business areas in the fields of energy engineering.

The Conference allows delegates to have engineering and procurement issues addressed by high-level practitioners and recognized global experts who are up to date with the latest developments in the electricity, energy and procurement fields and offers delegates an opportunity to meet and make new contacts in their highly specialized field.

SDMyers' Aris Pena, senior transformer specialist LatAm & Caribbean, will be presenting on "High-Voltage Electric Power Reliability: Building a Best-Practices Culture." The success of any reliability program is based on the ability to change the culture from reactionary to proactive. The challenges that the industrial world must overcome to bring about that change as it relates to high-voltage electrical systems (HVES) are many and varied, but three of the most significant ones are reliability leadership from an organizational standpoint, implementation of best practices for HVES reliability, and planning for the great legacy knowledge migration as the Boomer generation retires. His focus will be on those organizations that use power to produce, not those that produce power. Wile many of the factors that relate to culture change are the same for both industrial segments, there is a major difference on how capital spending affects financial return.
