New podcast series launches on Energy Central

Tallmadge, Ohio

The Smart Grid Reliability Alliance was birthed out of the reliability discipline from the perspective of the IEEE Reliability Society and as a working group within the Society of Maintenance and Reliability Professionals (SMRP).

In this initial podcast, Alan Ross, VP of Reliability at SDMyers and founder of the Smart Grid Reliability Alliance, speaks to Ben Lanz, director of applications engineering at IMCORP about power cable reliability.

Cable is one of the largest infrastructure assets that can’t be seen, which makes addressing reliability challenging. Challenges are compounded by limited time, money, and resources, and replacing the billions of feet already in the ground right now is not logistically or financially feasible. Diagnosing faults is a very complex task.

Lanz shares how IMCORP has created products and services that address the complexities of cable maintenance and how they use diagnostics to enhance the information they have in order to address the reliability of their equipment.
