The term “smart grid” is now widely recognized by members of the public. Creating a smart grid requires collaboration from many different groups, businesses, and agencies. One of the roles of the PES is to bring those experts together and unite in a common goal. Ryan and Ross discuss the grid edge, region-specific priorities of different areas of the world, the distinction between “reliability” and “resilience,” and the call for collaboration across the IEEE.
