Analytical Services : Overview
S.D. Myers, Inc. Laboratory has provided Analytical Services since our company was founded in 1965. We provide laboratory analysis of electrical insulating liquids and electronic data management services. We also review, interpret, and analyze test data from our laboratory and from other sources to provide our customers with clear and unambiguous recommendations concerning their electrical equipment maintenance programs.

>> Why do we offer these types of analytical services?

Our purpose is to provide dependable information and analysis that our customers need to implement a maintenance program so that the reliable, cost effective life of their electrical equipment is extended and unplanned service outages are prevented. Sampling and analyzing electrical insulating liquids represents a critical step in maintaining electrical equipment. Analysis results provide information concerning the condition of the solid insulation and the operation of the equipment that is used to proactively plan liquid and equipment maintenance for maximum benefit. Interpreting test results so that a cost effective maintenance strategy can be followed is frequently difficult for electrical equipment owners, and failure to translate results into maintenance actions can lead to irreversible equipment damage or an unscheduled service outage. Our Analytical Services offerings eliminate these problems by giving you clear and understandable interpretations and recommendations related directly to your maintenance strategy.

We also provide the containers and instructions needed for you to obtain and mail in your own samples. Finally, we offer the experience we have gained in 37 years of providing these services to help you interpret the information and manage the data for your cost effective maintenance program to extend equipment life and prevent unplanned outages.

>> What is our experience?

As a company, we have been providing analytical services since 1965. Our database of transformer test data exceeds four million records. Annually, we test tens of thousands of transformers, representing hundreds of thousands of insulating liquid samples. More than one half of our laboratory technical personnel have at least twelve years of experience with S. D. Myers, Inc., and the average level of experience for all technical staff is more than ten years. Results are reviewed and recommendations are prepared by a small group of specialists and supervisors who have, collectively, more than 100 years of laboratory and transformer maintenance experience. S. D. Myers, Inc. personnel are key contributors to the activities of many technical and trade organizations such as ASTM, IEEE, IEC, Cigre, NETA, and the Doble Client Committees.
